‘Balsam Bashing’ at Kingsmill Wood

Thanks to all the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Leaders and Parents who made it down to Kingmill Wood today for one of the Scout Community Week events.  Everyone worked really hard searching for (and bashing) the Himalayan Balsam, avoiding the brambles and nettles where possible.  I think everyone found it both fun and rewarding doing something worthwhile to protect the native plants from this invader.  Also, a big thanks to 21C for organising and supplying the tea and coffee.

Anglers First Catch

The Scouts participating in the Anglers badge had their first outing today fishing in the Cleddau Estuary.  Catch included a small flounder, an eel, crabs and lots of seaweed.  Next week (21st) will be in Orielton.  Please meet in the Speculation Inn car park at 6:55pm sharp – we will travel down to the pond together.

9th and 10th November – Tree Planting and Remembrance Parade

We have a busy weekend coming up with two full Group Events – Tree Planting on Saturday and the Remembrance Parade on Sunday.  Parents are welcome at both of these events.  All Scouts are particularly encouraged to attend the parade on Sunday.  Please use My.Scout to indicate if your child is available to attend – this helps the leaders know how many to expect on the day.

Details of these events are available through My.Scout.  Details for Tree Planting are available here ……

Lamphey Scouts interviewed for S4C

Lewis Clegg and Rachel Jones were fortunate enough to be interviewed recently by S4C at our local community wood where Pembroke 21C have been digging out some new ponds.  They quite happily chatted away with the presenter Dafydd who was very impressed with their language skills and their enthusiasm for pond dipping.  The Scout group will be using Holyland Wood as their case study for obtaining their Naturalist Badge.
